UC Health Emergency Medicine
All of the emergency department physicians at West Chester Hospital are members of UC Health Emergency Medicine - one of the top Emergency Medicine programs in the country. They are all are residency-trained in emergency medicine, a program that provides four additional years of specialty training.
Our emergency physicians all also practice at University Hospital, designated as the region’s only Level I trauma center by the American College of Surgeons. UC Health Emergency Medicine is equipped to treat the most complex cases – including victims of serious accidents and injuries. Our experienced physicians are recognized nationally as leaders in their field and are dedicated to providing outstanding patient care, exceeding the expectations of our referring physicians as well as our patients.
Stroke Diagnosis and Treatment
are provided by our experienced emergency medicine physicians, many of whom are members of the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Stroke Team. This team has made major contributions in the areas of stroke treatment and prevention, and provides acute stroke care for the region at all local hospitals. When continued care is needed, the UC Neuroscience Institute – and its nationally-recognized neurocritical care team -- is a leading treatment center for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, and other neurologic conditions.

About the ED
Patients visiting the Emergency Department at West Chester Hospital are immediately treated by a physician and a team of nurses and other clinicians, all of whom have received highly specialized training in emergency medicine. Patients who are very ill or severely injured may be directly admitted as a hospital inpatient – where the patient will continue to receive dedicated medical treatment over a longer period of time. Patients whose conditions are less severe may be directly discharged from the Emergency Department along with comprehensive written instructions and/or prescriptions/medications that are needed to facilitate the healing process.
Throughout our patients’ stay, our staff makes every effort to ensure that our guests are made as comfortable as possible.

About Our Emergency Department
Last year, West Chester Hospital treated more than 27,000 patients in our emergency department, which offers 28 private treatment and exam rooms The ED is designed to treat patients quickly and efficiently with the best care and latest technology available. With an average of 17 years of experience, our emergency department nurses are recognized leaders in the emergency medicine field, as well as being active in research and education, with more than 300 scientific articles published in medical journals over the past five years.
