The Pharmacy at West Chester Hospital uses state-of-the-art technology to ensure patients receive the proper medication at the right time, in the right dosage. To prevent accidental medication errors, patient wrist-bands are imprinted with a unique bar-code that matches up in our computer system with the physician-assigned medication, and doctors and nurses must pass a finger-print scan to access patient medication records. Medicines are pre-sorted in the Talyst Carousel (seen in the photo), which dispenses prescriptions like an ATM machine only when all security measures are passed by the clinicians and pharmacy technicians. The Pharmacy is for inpatients only, so outpatient prescriptions are not available.
